Role of Concaves in Combine Farm Equipment
As your crops race through the combine, the threshing cylinder gives them a good whack, loosening the grains from the stalks. The concaves then take over, acting like a sieve. The gaps between the grates allow the precious grains to fall through, while bigger plant material bounces back for further threshing.
