Internal storage drives are tape, disk, optical, or solid-state drives that reside inside the case of a desktop or laptop computer. An internal drive receives power from the main power supply. Internal hard drives are located inside your computer. Unlike external hard drives, these drives are not portable and are used only by the computer they reside on. There are two main types of internal hard drives: HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and SSD (Solid State Drive). HDDs are the more traditional type.
