Water conservation is paramount in India, where almost half of the land is used for agriculture and unsustainable practices could have severe ecological consequences. For instance, chemically grown sugarcane can require as much water on a single acre as 25 acres of indigenous maize, which also enhances nutrient intake for farming households. GREEN Foundation has long been dedicated to conserving India's rich agrobiodiversity, believing it is crucial for the country's future food security and ecological well-being.
